The Parker Travels

So happy to be together again! "Three Dog Night" - Tom Findley We are leaving Nebraska today and on our way to St. Louis, MO. We got in late Tuesday evening to Mike and Emma’s beautiful house in Omaha and stayed till Friday morning. It was a fun few days with them. We finally got to meet Auggie in person, he is the sweetest little baby, such a good boy. Toby was reunited with Bear and Silver too, I think we were more excited to see them than he was though. Mike and Emma have a beautiful house with a lovely backyard. Perfect for their growing family!  Meet Auggie! He can feed himself and doesn't mind naps face down on the floor. He also has sharp fingernails and went ahead and scratched up his face before we could snag a photo of him! Still cute though. View of the lake out the front door. The drive yesterday to Oklahoma was really easy. I drove a good part of it because it was so windy in Oklahoma, the RV was rolling too much making me carsick. I felt better behind the wheel than as a passenger, clearly don’t have my sea legs like Kyle does. I do have to say, it was very nice leaving the desert landscape behind us and entering into the beauty of large fall trees, lakes, hills and mountains. We are staying at a campground at Lake Carl Blackwell called Scissortail Lane. The site itself needs some work, but the views were amazing! The campground we were at was pretty small, there were only a handful of pull through sites, we were in the 1st one in the front row. So we had an unobstructed view of the lake! There were only 2 other RVs staying in this campground, the surrounding ones seemed to be more full time RVers and were fuller. Lake Carl Blackwell park is such a beautiful place.  Saturday 10/10 - Monday 10/12 Its always fun to put the TV antenna up to see what local channels we can get on the TV. This morning we found gold with the local Texas quilting channel! Usually its just a bunch of home shopping networks and a news channel here and there. The quilting channel was too funny. Perfect start to our next leg of the journey which is to drive from Midland, TX to Ted and Kate’s house in Aledo, TX with a stopover in Abilene, TX to see Grandma Parker, a quilter. I was able to convince Kyle last night to let me drive today. So after we fueled up I drove us the short drive to Grandma’s house in Abilene. I’ve driven the RV a lot already before our trip and felt pretty comfortable with it. But I’ve never driven it towing the car. It was a piece of cake. In fact driving the RV with a car in tow is easier than driving the 4Runner with the PUP in tow. Trailers can blow around more and sway a lot.
