How to Faux Shiplap your Trailer Walls!

I know we are so trendy right?! Gotta have shiplap if you are doing a remodel I guess! This actually started as a joke. Kyle and I have an inside joke about "really opening up the space" and "add shiplap and subway tile" from all these remodeling shows now. But after we built a new wall in the trailer, guess what? It really could use some shiplap! Haha. Jokes on us! Since real shiplap is made out of wood, and would add a ton of weight to our already heavy trailer, we decided to make faux shiplap. We bought the same vinyl flooring we used for the floors, but in the lightest color they had, which was this Driftwood Grey color. I wanted the lighter color because we knew we would be painting them white(ish). Like everything else in this trailer, we started with Zinsser Bulls Eye Interior Latex Primer . Kyle carefully spread some of the glue under any lifting pieces of flooring and they stuck really well. Good as new!

To prepare this area, I used some Liquid Nails  to glue down the vinyl that was lifting up. I screwed some wood pieces over top of the edge while the glue dried to for better adhesion. I also used the staple gun in the harder to reach areas. While this dried, we laid out our floor to figure out a pattern we liked. The flooring we are using is the peel and stick Style Selections 6-in x 36-in  from Lowes in Antique Woodland Oak Dark Brown We started with a clean slate. First Kyle used the shop vac to make sure all the large dust and debris was cleared out of the trailer. Then I used the wet mop Swiffer pads to clean all the floors once over. Next I would work in sections. I sprayed the Goo Gone Project Prep spray on fi...
