Burning Love

Updated: 4/29/17

Love is what this outdoor stove needs for sure! Lots and lots of love! By ripping out the stove from inside the PUP we now have spare parts to use to replace some of the more rusty and worn down parts on this outdoor version. The rest of it just needs a good scouring with a wire brush and some paint. We bought this High Heat paint by Rust-oleum which can withstand up to 1200˚F. We also bought a wire brush set with different types of tips to put into our cordless drill. Kyle already used some of them on the trailer tongue and they worked great!

The latch is working well, just needs a good scrub.
This hinge needs to be replaced. We might try and use the hinge from the indoor stove here and cut it down to size. If that doesn't work we can just replace it.

Hinge from the inside.
This track looks good, this is where the outdoor stove will slide onto the side of the PUP. There is also a stand under the stove that props up against the PUP as well.
I'm pretty sure this stove was used maybe once. You see some smoke marks up on the lid but the burners and cover look pretty good. Just a little cleaning.
Underside of the burners. Little rusty, but still pretty clean.

These tabs are pretty worn out. They are what holds the lid's wind shields in place. The left side is completely rusted through and bent over. I can probably just snap it off. We will be using the indoor stove's tabs to replace these.

This is the handle to pull it out of the front storage box where the outdoor stove lives. We will most likely be giving it a new home once it has been restored because the front storage box is prone to more weather than the inside of the PUP.

Here is the stand that I mentioned above that props up against the PUP. It looks pretty good, might replace the foam padding that actually rubs against the PUP it looks a little dirty and worn.
Gas line, looks good.
The burners and knobs. Nothing some soap and maybe the wire brush can't fix.

Update 4/29/17

Well we put this idea to bed when my parents bought us a brand new Camp Chef Explorer 2x Stove for my birthday! Check out the post on that here.
