Front Storage Box

This is the front storage box or the trunk of the PUP. Right now the PUP isn't fully opened, which allows us to open the lid to the storage box completely. When the PUP is opened completely, this front box is hidden by one of the bunk ends. So there is a door on the outside and 2 doors inside the PUP that allows access to the storage box. Its pretty dirty but it works.

After cleaning it out the storage box looks a lot better. The floor of it is made out of OSB (which thanks to the dumpsters around here we have plenty of) and it looks like the previous owners tried covering a part of it with a piece of vinyl flooring, that is peeling up. There is water damage in two corners of the box, which are very common. The ideal goal will be to rip out that vinyl flooring and either replace it or if it is needed, replace the entire wood floor with new OSB. Many people suggest drilling holes in the box too and covering with a piece of mesh or screen so if water does get in the box, it will drain out instead of sitting and rotting away at the wood.

We will most likely be storing our camp chairs, outdoor rug, add-a-room awning, hand cranks for the stabilizers and roof, etc. in here so we aren't too worried about the leaks at the moment. Nothing will go in here that can't get wet. The box in the far right is the water heater. It is pretty well protected by that styrofoam around it, but we could go a step further and find a way to protect it a little more if needed. Speaking of the water heater…

Rust city in here!
