Potty Talk

Ok remember this disgusting mess

Well look at it now! This post is going to have a lot of "potty talk" so be prepared. hehe.

Let me explain how we got from gross to beautiful! This was actually Kyle's project that he took on while my dad was out. We knew that we wanted to save the cassette toilet that was inside the shower. Kyle worked his magic at getting that sucker out of the shower, fixed and cleaned up nicely. He then added some casters to the bottom of the potty so we could roll it in and out of the cubby it will be hiding in.

We may or may not have had some toilet races down the driveway after the wheels were on…

Next Kyle built this box that will be the cubby for the potty to hide it when not in use.

We put it in the trailer and slid a bed in to make sure we had clearance. Just made it, phew! The weather strip glides across the top of the box but other than that nothing else touches it when closing up the trailer. So thats a relief.

Like EVERYTHING else in this trailer….time for a few coats of primer and some Icy Avalanche paint! Dad had the genius idea of adding a shelf inside the cubby to help the potty slide in and out better and not move around while in motion. Also works nicely to hold a few rolls of toilet paper.

Dad put together a door for the cubby out of some scrap wood laying around the garage. I trimmed it out like the rest of the cabinets in the trailer and primed/painted that too. Once the cubby and door were painted we added this nice long piano hinge to the door.

After failing to close the door with some velcro Kyle found a genius solution of using a window latch. It works perfectly and keeps the potty in place when we are driving!

A touch of cute hardware from Hobby Lobby and we are all set! Look how wonderful this cubby turned out! It also doubles as an end table to the couch. With an outlet on one side and couch on the other this is the perfect little spot to plug in and relax!

The last thing that needed to be fixed was the access door. The latch was broken there so Kyle bought a new one and fixed that as well. The purpose of this access door is so you can pull the cassette part of the potty out and dump it.

View from inside the access door. Kyle rolled the potty in and you can see it fits well!

Now when you need to go potty, all you need to do is this!
