Drive to Colorado - Day 11

Check out at the Louisville SRA campground wasn't until 2:00 PM. We were able to take our time again this morning and on the road around noon today. We are only going through 2 states today; Nebraska and Colorado. There aren't any planned stops so our drive should take about 7h 30min (514 miles). The drive to Colorado is another boring one. We are headed to Boyd Lake State Park which is just inside the CO border. So most of our driving today will be through the entire state of Nebraska. Lots and lots of corn, as far as the eye can see!
So. Much. Corn!
The skies were pretty though!
Even Toby thought the drive was boring today.
We made it to the campground right around 7:00. We had to drive around for a bit before we found where the fresh water spout was close to use. Most of the campers have run a hose from their trailer to the communal water spigots, which made it hard to find one that was available to use to fill our tank up. We had plenty of daylight left when we arrived since we crossed over another time zone.

Crossing over into Colorado and we have officially found the heat that we have been avoiding most of this trip. From here on out, the rest of the trip is going to be fairly hot. Thank goodness our AC works really well! The campsite was a pull through which was nice and easy to get into. We set up camp, and actually pulled out the awning as well because our site didn't have much for shade.

We were able to set up camp fairly quick and had time to sit and enjoy the wonderful sunset over the Rockies.

I made pasta on our Camp Chef tonight for dinner with the stuff we bought at Eatly in Chicago. While I was outside watching the stove, Kyle was inside the trailer opening up a bottle of Italian wine we got from Eatly. Before we knew it, the bottle Kyle was working on had slipped out of his hands onto the floor and splattered red wine everywhere! Luckily he didn't spill the whole bottle, but he had quite the mess on his hands to clean up!

Even the spilled wine felt bad for us!
Thank goodness for our easy clean floors and paint! It was fairly easy for him to wipe up all the red wine without staining anything. While he was cleaning up I finished up making the caprese salad and pasta for dinner. It was delicious!
