Leaving Maryland - Day 1

Kyle came home around 2pm today, I already had the trailer loaded up so all we needed to do was play Tetris with the rest of the stuff that needed to go into "The Beast" (aka The 4Runner). It took about an hour to load everything up and then about 30 minutes to close up the trailer and hook it up. After taking one final [sad] walk through of our house we headed to the truck scales. We were in a bit of a rush because the scales close at 4pm but we made it there with 15 minutes to spare! Our truck and trailer together were just over 9000 lbs with everything in it. So that means that we have 1400 pounds of stuff we are bringing with us! Add the weight of us + Toby and we are still under weight for what The Beast can tow which is good.

It is beautiful and sunny out, but it also is a humid 90 degrees today. At least the drive is short today. Only about 3 hours to West Virginia. We are going to stay at a hotel for this first night.

We only made one quick stop to feed Toby then made it to the hotel in West Virginia around 7:30pm. We are staying at America's Best Value Inn tonight. We checked in and let Toby run around and go potty. Once we got to our room we quickly realized that we were about to sleep in one of the worst hotel rooms yet. The room smelled like smoke, the bedding had cigarette burns in it, there are bugs everywhere...it will take a lot of strength to make it through this night. Sadly this was the only pet friendly hotel that we could stay in near Harpers Ferry. So in preparation to brave our night in this dump we walked to (our only food option) Ruby Tuesday's next door for a drink and some food.
